Abstract

|
Clinico-pathological analysis. was made on 27 cases of the Crohn´s,disease for 16 years front
1953 to 1974 at Department, of surgery, Korea General Hospital and Dept. of Surgery, Yonsei
University, College of Medicine, which were confirmed by pathologically.
Among 27 cases, both-sexes were .equally affected, 14 males and 13 females.
The average age was 43 year old, which was higher than that of western. Most common subjective symptom was abdominal pain, found in 24 cases. . The distribution of location were as follows:
Colon alone 11 cases, ileocecal region 9 cases, terminal ileum 6 cases and jejunum 1 case. About 73% were developed in large bowel f20 cases.
Crohn´s disease was suspected in only 4 cases, preoperatively. Most of the cases were explored for palpable mass under the impression of malignancy.
Wide resection were performed in 24 cases, By pass procedure in 2 cases and appendectomy was done in one case.
